The Moon will be absent from the evening sky, allowing us to explore the dark skies over Ft. Clinch. The Pleiades, Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus form a jeweled necklace to the South; each of them a fine telescopic target. The Milky Way meanders across the zenith overhead and offers many beautiful and mysterious nebulae and star clusters. Directly overhead, Andromeda Galaxy--our twin sister--shines with the light of just over a billion stars. And, if the sky is clear enough, it will be the furthest thing you will ever see with your naked eyes…two million light-years away. Join us as members of the Northeast Florida Astronomical Society (NEFAS) share their knowledge and their telescopes.
