Rules
Nature must be the dominant theme of any entry. Manmade objects such as buildings, boats, roads, etc should be kept to a minimum. Furthermore, since this contest is focused on nature, entries may not be digitally altered beyond normal dust removal/clean up and minor adjustments to levels, curves, color saturation and image contrast. Only minor cropping is permitted. No winning contest entries from the 2009 Wild Amelia Photography Contest are allowed.
Fee
There is a $25 entry fee for up to three entries. Participants may enter a maximum of 5 entries with an additional fee of $10 per entry. Payment must accompany image submission.
Categories
Beginner/ Casual Photographer- Submitters should be photographers who have less than 2 years photographic experience or who photograph casually and have limited technical training.
Pro/Advanced Amateur- Photographers who sell their work on a regular basis, or/and have advanced technical skills and have pursued photography on a consistent basis for over two years.
Submissions
Images must be submitted digitally on a CD or DVD compatible with Windows-based PC’s. The CD/DVD must be accompanied by a completed entry form and payment. Please do not resize your images for contest submission, submit your images at the resolution that was set in your camera. Save your image as a JPEG at the highest possible quality setting (normally 12). Scans and prints will not be accepted. Images must be color profiled in Adobe RGB 98 color space. Each image should contain entrant’s name and image title in the file name by saving the file with your name and the image title such as Picture Taker_Sunrise.jpeg.
Copyright
Contest entrant must be the creator of the image and owner of the copyright for every image submitted. By entering the Wild Amelia Nature Festival photography contest, entrants agree that if the images are among the winning images, Wild Amelia is granted a non exclusive license to reproduce the winning images for editorial, promotional and display use including, but not limited to, the following:
Display at Fort Clinch Visitor Center.
Inclusion in a 2011 Wild Amelia photo contest calendar.
Inclusion in the 2011 Wild Amelia brochure and associated promotional material in both print and electronic media forms as well as future Wild Amelia advertising efforts.
Deadline
Entries must be postmarked no later than April 2, 2010.
Judging Guidelines
Photographic entries will be judged on the following criteria:
How well each entry portrays the natural environments and ecosystems of Amelia Island and the surrounding habitats.
Technical aspects to include composition, exposure, color balance and overall visual impact.
The judges will be professional photographers from Northeast Florida.
Winner Announcements
Winning entries will be announced at 10A.M. on Saturday, May 22 at the Recreation Center’s main auditorium in Fernandina Beach. All winning entries will be displayed via a continuous digital slideshow during select times at the festival.
